On the 7th April 2026 we visited The Royal Oldham Neonatal hospital and gave the bereavement team some bags, journals and books.

On the 19th of March Lilaslight went to Alder Hey hospital in Liverpool.

So proud of this one, our special girl continues to make a difference 💜

What an amazing centre for bereaved families ..an honour to be able to help with our bags 💜

On the 6th March 2025, we visited a lovely team of Community Nurses for Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust to deliver some of our bereavement bags, journals and books.

Our 1st bereavement event 💜

Fairfield General Hospital invited us to attend their Swan Bereavement Event today.

We spoke about Lila’s story and showcased the work we do 💜 We also met some really inspiring parents who also run charities after their tragic loss of their children 💜 ‘Just.bathe’ your bespoke bath packs are absolutely beautiful, and ‘Freddie's sunshine charity’, who provide amazing bags to parents to support them through their loss.

An afternoon surrounded by love, Support, understanding and a chance to speak about lilaslight 💜

On the 28th January, we also visited the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary. This is our second bag drop-off with Judith from the Bereavement team. They cover Wrightington, Wigan, Leigh, and the Thomas Linacre centre. Judith supports so many families and children at the most horrific time of their lives and does it single-handedly. I can’t believe this superwoman supports that many families; it really does show how undervalued bereavement care is in this country.

Rossendale Hospice

On the 28th January 2026, we visited Rossendale Hospice after they contacted me requesting some bags. They were so pleased with the bags, journals and grief books. Hopefully, they will help in the darkest of times.

On the 14th January, our little Lila should have turned 8. We were invited into her school. They had a kindness day to honour Lila. The children and teachers were all dressed in purple (Lila’s favourite colour). It was so nice to return and share are grief with them. Lila made such an impact on everyone she met, and you could really see that when we went in.

A bubble entertainer visited and gave the children a very impressive bubble show. We got the chance to take part and blow bubbles up to Heaven.

The school also showed us their designs of the memorial garden they are doing in honour of Lila and we met some of the older pupils whilst they asked questions about Lila so it would help with their designs.

We donated £1000 out of the charity pot to contribute to their memorial garden.

We can not wait to see it finished.

It was our absolute honour to provide Brian Sharples and Son with a Cuddle cot blanket a few weeks ago.

Brian sharples were the funeral directors we used for Lila and the care they gave Lila and us was outstanding.

We're quite good at talking about what went wrong, what we were not happy with, criticisms of care. But what about the good...from the moment we spoke with Brian sharples we were met with kindness, understanding and empathy and I was so grateful for the care they provided Lila and us with and have continued to do so. They are the definition of good bereavement care.

Cuddle blankets keep a toddler or child cool after they pass away. This means the family will have more precious time to spend with there child. They can hold them, take them home and not have to worry about time spent with them . What a difference they can make. A lot of hospitals, hospices and some funeral directors worldwide now offer bereaved families longer with their baby or child with the help of cuddle blankets.

Families get that little bit longer with their child before they go on their final journey.

💜 From a special little girl to a special place that will always have a place in our hearts 💜

In loving memory of Joel Sheldon.

Joel passed away recently, on the day we held Lila’s annual Fun Day, and in that moment in time, I heard the news, and I felt Joel’s parents’ pain. It’s the unimaginable, the gut-retching and the heart-stopping pain losing a child. I went to see Joel’s family, and they kindly asked for donations for Lila’s Light when they had their son’s funeral. The Greyhound pub then held a fun day to raise money for a bleed kit. After raising money for the bleed kit Joel’s family requested that the remaining money go to Lila’s light. In honour of Joel, we introduced Books on grief and journals for teenagers to offer a small amount of support to older teenagers. RIP Joel. xxx

Lilas Bereavement bags

Today we spent the day organizing our bereavement bags, a lot of love and care went into these bags, and include lots of lovely items to help siblings at their time of need. We have put together two types of bags, one bag for under nine years of age and then we have an over age nine bag. The under age nine includes handmade knitted dolls made with love and some little knitted love hearts. The bags contain two hearts- one can be given to the sibling that has passed away and the other for the sibling to keep. We have also included stones to paint to remember their loved ones, drawing and crafting items, a notebook, forget me not seeds, a booklet explaining grief and ideas on remembering their loved ones, a story book explaining death, a pocket hug and a few other little surprises. The over nine years of age bags contain similar items however the booklet is more appropriate to their age on explaining grief. It also contains a journal and an angel ornament to remember their loved one.

Finally we have finished our first 140bags ready to distribute.
